Project 2: What A relief!

For this assignment, we were tasked to create either a relief of a perspective, section or a tunnel book. although this was project 2 we were given this task as the final project for our own convenience. The objective of this assignment is understand the spatial depth of our cafe project and it was easier for us to create the perspective and section because we already had done the model of the cafe.

Process of making the Model

The first thing I did was cutting the acrylic floor for the 1st floor so that we can see the connected part from the wall display to the cafe.

Cutting this angled part took a few tries because it kept on breaking because of the pointed narrow part

This was the final acrylic cut that did not break

I cut the top layer of the walls with the cut out for the windows and the doors at an angle

Then I cut the layer below it.

After i used foam tape and foam pieces to make the top layer mor pop out and then I added the railings also cut paste on persepective.

Then I did pasted the base to the bottomand raising it as well with foam tape and foam pieces.

With the walls done, I started on the wall display.

The wall display i made just 3 of the panels in different sizes. the smallest at the back to show that it is the furthest. I then glued the panel together.

Then I put the wall display between the back wall layer and the top wall layer.

After, I added foam peices underneath to the top part of the perspective to add more depth.

I added the details such as the doors, the railings on the 1st floor, the signboard base, and the leg rest at the lower part of the bar.

Then I added made the stairs also according to the perspective I chose

Finally I added the strips of red and white plastic that signifies the threads to the wall of the 1st floor connecting to the wall display.

With all the layers done I covered the top with a clear acrylic sheet and framed it with balsa wood.

Final Outcome

Reflection

This project had allowed me to learn new things. The perspective that I did was not accurate as it was based on what I imagined from the perspective I could see from my Cafe model. This project gave me the reason to learn sketch up to get a more accurate perspective for my final presentation boards. This relief project was one of my favorite among the 3 projects that we had to build and I managed my time better for this project so the outcome I achieved was good enough for me.
